Robert FLISIAK

Professor, Head of Department of Infectious Diseases and Hepatology, Medical University in Białystok, Poland

Robert FLISIAK is the head of the Department of Infectious Diseases and Hepatology of the Medical University of Bialystok, Poland, as well as the previous Dean (2005-2008) and vice-rector (2008-2012) at this University.

He earned his medical education at the Medical University of Białystok and completed training there in internal medicine (1988) and infectious diseases (1991). In 1991-92 he completed research training at Mount Sinai School of Medicine in New York and additional clinical training in London and Salzburg.
Professor Robert FLISIAK is the current President of the Polish Association of Epidemiology and Infectious Diseases, President of the Central European Hepatologic Collaboration, President of the Polish Expert Group for HBV, and the past President of the Polish Association for the Study of Liver. He is also Editor in Chief of the Clinical and Experimental Hepatology.

The scientific activity of Prof. FLISIAK was focused on infectious diseases and hepatology, and his scientific achievements include 454 publications registered in the Web of Science Core Collection (h-index: 48, above 16,000 citations). He was a principal investigator, country coordinator, or world-leading investigator in almost 200 clinical trials and coordinator of multiple multicenter, investigator-initiated clinical studies. In 2020, 2021, and 2022, he was ranked 3rd, 2nd, and 8th on the list of the most influential people in Polish medicine according to the “Puls Medycyny” ranking.
