Michael W. FRIED, M.D., FAASLD is Professor of Medicine and former Director of Hepatology at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Dr. FRIED is the primary author or co-author on over 225 publications concentrated in the field of viral hepatitis. He was co-principal investigator of the HCV-TARGET research network and founded Target RWE, a real-world evidence company to study natural history, safety, and effectiveness of treatments across numerous therapeutic areas. Dr. FRIED served on the Governing Board of the American Association for the Study of Liver Diseases (AASLD) and was President of AASLD in 2019.
